Dear Claudia
In my book of pediatric pathology, it is told that breastfeeding is THE VERY
BEST CHOICE for babies suffering for this condition, because it has low
level of proteins and electrolytes. The baby has to be strictly monitored,
and water given in addition to mother milk, fonction of the severity of the
deshydratation. Medications used are hudrochlorothiazine (1 to 2 mg/kg) and
indometacin (1 to 3 mg/kg) ; most of the case, this treatment has a very
good effect, with an important amelioration.
Hope this help
