Thanks, Carol, that is a really useful phrase which I can't wait to
use...some parents really like to have a word to describe stuff they're
finding hard to cope with. It sort of normalises it - after all if there's
a word to describe it they can't be alone!
Language is really, really important.
I dislike 'demand feeding' for instance. Much prefer 'unrestricted feeding'
which has a more positive ring to it. Who wants to be 'restricted'? Yet I
would like a more friendly, easier to say and less polysyllabic
phrase....feeding 'ad lib'? Too Latin. 'Ask' feeding? Silly. 'Feeding as
and when you or the baby want to' is okay but a bit long.
Any ideas?
