Cindy (think it was Cindy who raised this...): I can't recall what Lucas
said about donated milk from milk banks, but as far as I know UK milk banks
have not and do not accept drip milk from donors - or if they were/are,
they were certainly out of step with what was regarded as mainstream
practice as far back as I can remember (1980). Thanks for confirming what I
sorta knew, Carolyn.
Our milk bank movement is slowly gaining in strength, glad to say, after
almost all of them were closed down in the late 80s-early 90s.
The best thing about milk banks - apart from the fact they bring all that
lovely milk to babies who need it - is the way they really show to bf
mothers and non-bf mothers, and to the world at large that bf is really,
really important. It gives a great morale boost to bf mother donors. The
symbolic value, coupled with the actual value, is immeasurable.
