Nancy:
I have the abstract of an srticle from 1985 called " effects of number of
lambs suckled and supplemental protein souce on lactating ewe performance."
in which lambs nursings twin and triplet were compared and lo and behold the
autohors found that ewe's giving birth and nursing triplets produced 21% more
milk/unit metabolic body weight, were 10% more efficient in the conversion of
feed to milk and produced 26% more kg of lamb/ewe on day 42 of lactation than
did ewes giving
birth to and nursing twins.
used this artlce to support the concept that mother's of triplets could
produce enough milk! how the times have changed!
