Kim asked, re: mom relactating after mastitis, about "white globs" from the
affected breast. I think one of the first things I'd want to know is how do
the globs smell? Like pus, or like new milk, or maybe just like old
secretions from the Montgomery glands? If they didn't smell "bad", I'd taste
a little (well, I'd tell the mom to taste a little!). I don't really know,
but my hunch would be that maybe these globs were just kind of left-overs
from the mastitis and the abrupt earlier weaning. If they smelled/tasted OK,
I'd probably not worry about it.
Are the white globs followed by anything else (like good new milk, or
blood)? Let us know!
