Hi all,
Just had to add my bit about mucousy babies and our policy:
Nothing!
We leave them to vomit it all out themselves, reassuring the mothers, and of
course, keeping an eye on them.
If a baby is particularly mucousy at night, we may ask the mother's
permission to keep baby with us in our office, for observation. (We don't
own a nursery!!)
This usually have a few vomits, a big sleep, then wake ready to feed. We
don't wake babies for feeds, and will leave them 12 hours or more after the
first breast feed to sleep off the birth. Then they will often cluster feed,
as if to catch up.
Isn't nature wonderful??
