Hi all, I need some help with MY breast pain. My 3rd child is 3 1/2
weeks old, feeding well, 3 hourly in the day, 4 hourly at night. He
has one side and then usually a brief suck on the other. Nipples
are fine, nothing to see. Left breast is absolutely OK. Right breast
last night became really painful, almost feels like it is bruised,
mainly at 11.00 o clock, but if I press the breast tissue to actually
fine a definate spot, it is painful all over the upper surface including
the areola. It is so painful that I could not sleep. There are no
lumps to feel, no red areas, the breast is softish now and is soft
after feeds. The other thing is that since the 2 am feed last night,
the nipple feels as if it is being compressed or something, but if I
reattach him, the nipple looks OK and the pain continues. I feel
very sure that he is attached well so am wondering if I have thrush.
I need some expertise. It is hard to self diagnose especially when
I don't feel that I have any other symptoms apart from the pain. By
the way, he did have genital thrush, not oral, I do wash my hands
though!!!!!!!!!!
