Dear Tina in Ohio,
A very touchy situation. Hard to know how to handle. If there is
an opportunity, it may help this mom to know that the baby should have
been seen a day or two post discharge by some hcp, it's not all her
fault. Is she aware of the first week feeding log, the expected I and I
during the first week, and to call her hcp if the baby is not nursing
8-12 x per every 24 hrs, not having enough wets and stools? Some of this
info may be comforting to her, or it may induce more guilt.........
Good luck and best wishes in your contact with this family.
