On another list of less knowledgeable persons, there was some discussion of
the Belgian composer Lekeu who was born in the late 1800's and evidently
died as a young adult. Apparently, he was of great talent which was
extinguished far too soon.

I do recall some of his works being recorded in recent years. Music sales
web sites revealed a 9-disc set on Ricercar of most, if not all, of his
works. This set sells for less than $10 per disc.

Was Lekeu a highly talented composer, and how would you describe his music?
Is the Ricercar set a worthy acquisition, or would I be better off taking
my wife to a fine restaurant? I suppose I could do both.
