Okay, let's agree to NOT go into the guilt thing again. From my previous
posts it should be abundantly clear how I feel about this issue. (Check the
archives if you're interested)
My problem with this article was that it painted a very "breastfeeding is
hard" picture. Lot's of stuff about problems that can occur, (mastitis,
plugged ducts, etc.) but nothing about how difficult bottle feeding is. And
IT IS DIFFICULT! My suggestion to editor was that they present a more
balanced picture; here are some difficulties you might experience with
breastfeeding and here are some difficulties you might experience with
bottle feeding. THIS article did not do that.
BTW, I happen to think feeding a baby ABM is NOT okay and that babies on ABM
are NOT well nourished. They are missing out on some key things that can
not be duplicated by science. As a Breastfeeding Specialist working in the
WIC and Nutrition department, I make sure that all pregnant women understand
this vital difference.
