Although I detest the fact they made a separate product, some physicians do
recommend thickening formula (or BM) with rice cereal as a treatment for
gastroesophageal reflux (along with elevating head of crib and medication). I
have to admit, I have used it (rarely) in the NICU.  GER is something that
most premies and normal infants outgrow over a few months. I have seen the
commercial .......AR stuff - I doubt it is thick enough to treat GER, but they
do have some research behind what they are doing.
