Sandy,
I have seen several women with chronic clogged ducts benefit from
taking lecithin as a dietary supplement. It can be obtained at any
health/ vitamin store.
Also, restricting dietary intake of saturated fats seems to help some
moms.
I also tell moms to avoid putting any pressure on the breasts
unnecessarily-- including sleeping on the stomach or side. I know
from my own nursing experiences that this can cause a plugged duct--
has for me on severl occasions.
The other thing that I find helps moms is a reminder to get adequate
rest. Perhaps a nap when the baby is sleeping, or, barring that, a
quiet time with the feet up, sipping tea. Something to relax the mom,
whatever works for her.
