I'm new to this listserv, but have been following recent postings re: the
Atkins diet. Some of you may find interesting information at

syndrome(PCOS). A low carb diet such as the Atkins diet is one of the natural
treatments for PCOS in which insulin overproduction related to insulin
resistance is one of the main problems in which the blood glucose is normal,
but there is an overproduction of insulin. 1 of 10 women has PCOS which can
lead to a whole array of symptoms from infertility to weight gain to facial
hair to hair loss. Symptoms can be subtle to severe.
I guess my point is that there is a place for these types of diets, but I
would think that moderation/balance is the key while breastfeeding. I have
personally been helped by a low carb diet and now have regular periods for the
first time in my life. Check out the website if you have time.
