Lactpals, Another thought . . . .
Would it not make it more difficult for the baby to perform the physiologic
squeeze if baby is swaddled as opposed to skin-to-skin on mothers chest/belly
and covered over, if needs be, by a light cotton blanket, towel or sheet?
If the hospital is following Baby Friendly Guidelines then baby will be skin-
to-skin with mother and I would like to bet that this will enable baby to
clear and open out those airways more easily because it is able to move
freely.
