The point was, the babies weren't taking in enough milk -- so why were they
stooling appropriately? I realize MOST of the time, inadequate caloric intake
is going to result in inadequate stooling, so we have that as a screening
tool. My question is, the few babies that stool adequately, but are NOT
gaining (due to inadequate caloric intake). Then what do we use as a
screening tool? I want to get these babies BEFORE the obligatory 10 day to 2
week pediatric check up. Easier to correct things early on, than later....and
if a baby is bf at least 8x/24 hours and stooling adequately (at least 3/24
hours - a "goodly" amount (not a smear), then what do we use for screening?
