Re:  the infant whose case I presented as an apology for test weighing.
Thought some of you might be interested on an update.  The Baby was first
seen on 11-19. After one week of pumping, nursing, bottle feeding EBM, baby
gained 7 oz.  Mother was instructed to do 2 more weight checks at
pediatrician's office at one week intervals.  2nd week baby had gained 6
more oz.  By 3rd week baby gained another 7 oz.  So baby is now gaining very
appropriately and consistantly. Knowing this has been a huge relief to all
concerned.

The milk supply was surprisingly resiliant, and her breasts are much fuller
now.  Baby did not become "confused" by bottles, in fact, still prefers
breast very decidedly, and fusses when grandma tries to give a bottle.  Suck
has strengthened, and baby is mostly bfg. (1-2 bottles daily -- down from
some bottle at each feed.)  Mom pumps 2x a day to make sure milk supply
stays strong.  I am recommending she cont. this for one more week as older
sister has a cold, and if baby gets sick, we don't want to lose ground.  I
expect pump to be gone by Christmas, and baby to be exclusively bfg.  Mom
did such a good job pumping she never needed to use any formula for
supplementation.
