The doctor doesn't know what she/he is talking about. If a well-growing
2-month old breastfeeding baby whose stools are once weekly and are the normal
breastfed consistency (soft/mushy/seedy/liquidy), this is NORMAL. Breastfed
babies of 6-8 weeks have been known to go 10-14 days between stools. Tell the
mother to ignore the doctor's bad advice, continue to nurse the baby ad lib
and enjoy the infrequent messy diapers.
