Did the kid end up OK? I mean did his counts recover? This immunologist did
say that this was very rare. I'd like to gather more info on this type of
thing

Subject: BREASTFEEDING AND NEUTROPENIA

About a year ago I had a patient who was neutropenic
and breastfeeding. Not pancytopenic. Any we never even thought
to not breastfeed. Infant he kept getting febrile with negative
cultures and I asked his heme/onc specialist why would an at
home breastfed baby get so many viruses? that led to more
work-up. Do to an HMO change he had to change practices,
never found the reason for his problem.
