i applied recently to a major insurance company to become a preferred
provider. they just sent me a letter (now listen carefully to the background
notes: the intermountain west portion of the USA, where i am, has the highest
breastfeeding rates in the country, also this company actually does cover
lactation services in some of its plans) saying:

we will not accept you as a preferred provider because we have determined that
there is no need for your services in this area.

as you can guess the level of hilarity this inspired around here is terrific,
because i get more calls all the time. maybe it is that thickened formula, it
will fix everything.
