Dianne, you said:
"The chief of anesthesia has made it very clear that
they would like a 95% (yes, you read that right!) epidural rate for vaginal
births. Of course, I am horrified and need some "ammunition"."
So maybe (s)he does what this rate, do the moms want
it?
I want 95% of my pages while on call before 10pm (OK I want
all of them before 10pm, doesn't mean I get it that way.
"Also, this hospital routinely tells moms who have any type of surgery that
they must stop BF for 24-48 hours (this is general anesthesia as well as
local with sedation). Again, the best info on BF after anesthesia"
As always try the good Dr Tom's book.
I hope the pediatricians or who ever is the primary care docs
for the babies/children have the final say in this. I don't see
where anesthesiologist should make decisions about
infant/child nutrition. It would be interesting to ask
them (anesthesia) what the affect of drinking x amount of
y anesthetic agent would be.
