 This sounds to  me like a situation where the judicious use of a nipple
 shield ( gasp) might do the trick of transitioning to the breast.  Just my
 2 cents.

          I would have an eye dropper and expressed milk/water close at hand
to put in baby's mouth to further encourage asuckle if nothing happens when
you latch the baby on.
