Are you all ready for this one? I have needed to have three incisional
hernias repaired (the result of many abdomenal surgeries---long story)
since the birth of Wesley last April. The first surgeon I saw said, "yup,
they sure are hernias--better not lift anything heavier than 10 lbs (my
baby was 14 lbs at that point) and you need to lose weight" (duh---I just
had a baby). I returned to see him 3 months later and he said "Wow, you
really look great." Then I took off my clothing and he said "You still
need to lose more weight before I operate, and WHILE YOU'RE AT IT, WEAN
THAT BABY SO WE CAN DO A BREAST REDUCTION." I had never mentioned wanting
this...not to mention the fact that while I'm lactating I am considerably
larger. So, chalk that one up to another stupid reason to wean. BTW, I
went to a different surgeon after my insurance changed and I'm due to have
the hernia's repaired 3/3/99 (while still lactating).
