Cathy, I agree with you about women with limited resources and stressful lives
not being able to maintain bf at the level necessary to avoid ovulation.
I would like to put a plug in for IUDs as an alternative to hormonal
contraception during lactation. Provider bias often gets in the way of
providing complete and accurate info re: all the contraceptive options
currently available. If the woman and her partner are monogamous, she has no
history of recent reproductive infections, and she is reasonably close to
medical facilities, an IUD may be an option she would choose when given
informed consent.
.....it won't interfere with lactation and she doesn't have to remember to
take it every day.
