Barbara..... Have you suggested Mom use some of that gum soothing gel
before nursing, baby motrin (or whatever her HCP recommends) a short
while before feeding, a nipple shield to serve as "protection" for Mom's
tender skin? I wonder if this little one bites only towards the end of
a feeding? My daughter did this, and I limited her feeding times when I
noticed the pace of her suckling slowing down. Is Mom able to recognize
the subtle feel of the baby's tongue pulling back in order to facilitate
a bite? Hope this helps.
