Fellow netters.  Interestin report from the BMJ on formula marketing. Well
finally got to do some real grocery shopping today.  I always run thru the
baby isle- they also have feminine articles makeup and other stuff.  Well
what did I spot on the shelf new En***** an M**** J****** infant formula in
premeasured packets, each packet making 4 ounces of formula.  10- or 12
packets aroud 6 $ US i think.  Then what burned my glasses but FOOD LION
brand formula. for those who do not know Food Lion is a large chain of
Grocery stores in the  South east US and I believe is expanding west and
north.  The formula label- I did pick this one up- still the same nasty
stuff, manufactured by W**** A******.
Well this was really expensive almost as much as the other well known
brands.  I have an idea why the stores like FL and W**M*** choose to join up
with WA to give formula. It is call MONEY.  W***** A******* also now sees a
sneeky way to increase its market share.  Since store brands are usually
cheaper these companies can make money and market and inferior product next
to mother nature. It may be comparable to S****** and E******but since
consumers are $ consious people will buy this other product.

I do realize there may be a Genuine need at times for formulas our Grocers
and retailers have no business promoting formula decisions that need to be
between physician and patient.  I feel like boycotting but I cannot bring my
self to drive 45 minutes to the other larger grocery stores.  This one is in
Marshville still 15 miles away.  Marshville is where Country singer Randy
Travis is from.  SO. east of Charlotte NC.
