Your question about sage and seizures turned this up: Brinker, using curious
terms, states that prolonged use could possibly induce "epileptiform cramps"
(Herb Contraindications and Drug Interactions). Botanical Safety Handbook
makes no specific mention of seizures.
Newall et al. state convulsant activity has been documented for humans and
animals, attributable to camphor and thujones, constituents of the volatile
oil. For rats the subclinical dose for convulsant action was estimated at 0.3
g/kg of the oil - one would have to consume a lot of sage leaves to get that
dose. Leaves contain 1-2.8% volatile oil.
