<< Subject: Re: Constipation NOT!!>>>
I am a visiting nurse in a maternal and childhealth program in a boro of NYC.
Constipation is the most frequent complaint I get from many moms, whether they
are breastfeeding or not. They interpret the noises the baby makes(grunts,
straining, etc) as being caused by constipation. I point out to them, they do
the same thing when they have a bowel movement, only they have learned to
control the sounds. Then they understand the noises that baby makes is not
necessarily constipation. I explain as long as the bm are soft and mushy, like
mustard, it is not constipation.
