  Inverted nipples in the medical literatuer are catagoriezed two ways:

       invaginated and umbilicated.

      invaginated nipples can NOT be pulled out, umbilicated ones can. The
underlying  cause is hypodevelopment of the nipple and mammary musculature.

  Good latch technique should allow for breastfeeding.
