Dear Lactnetters,

Pokeroot got mentioned as useful for stubborn breast infections and the
careful use of a "tiny dose" recommended. I know previously on Lactnet, use
of homeopathic pokeroot has been described for mastitis.

Reading descriptions of pokeroot and it's toxic potential should scare one
silly and so extreme caution with dose is required with even the most skilled
practitioner.

Beyond all this though, Jim Duke has told me that even homeopathic
preparations of pokeroot have shown carcinogenic effects. As I recall, this
was from in vitro studies ....gave me pause. Surely, there are safer
alternatives.
