Dear Lactnetters: I am still no mail, but I wanted to thank those of you
who replied (everyone was stumped too) to the possible CPT1 case I posted.
Sadly, the baby died about 10 days ago. The parents chose not to do an
autopsy, so we do not know for sure what the final diagnosis was. This
poor mother felt very attacked by the medical community because they
implied that she was killing her baby (although the baby's down turn came
when they took her off breast). I attended the funeral and sobbed
uncontrollably even though I don't know the family personally. The little
casket was more than any of the 700+ mourners could bare without tears.
I can't help thinking, "only if..." This was a very sad case where no one
thought to call a lactation consultant until the very end. Thanks again
for your support. 'Hope all is well with everyone.
Chris
