I got a large charge out of the comment by someone in a recent LACTNET
DIGEST about the cost of hopsitalization and their early discharge. When
asked, hubby smartly remarked they were going to the Waldorf Astoria,
because it was cheaper!@

I haven't yet received my hospital bill for my out-patient stay (figuring
longest possible time there from 8AM when I saw admitting clerk (who gave
me Living Will information! Was this the best time for this?) to when I
finally was wheeled out to the parking lot (I wasn't wheeled out after
having a baby!) at around 4PM, that is 8 hours. My understanding is the
hopsital I used charges about $590/day hospital stay for uneventful birth.

I KNOW I could probably get one of the very best hotels in Seattle or
Vancouver, BC for less than that with meals thrown in. The only thing I
had to eat during my entire stay was Ringers Lactate! :-)
