To the Wise Ones:
Hello, I am posting for the first time! I have been reading and
learning for several months. This is a wonderful way to learn. I am a
RNC, CLC in a O.B. Unit. We have a LDRP Unit. I am the only full
time L.C., and have 2 partime lactation educators that also help. My
training is from the UCLA Lactation Educator and Lactation Consultant
Program. About 75%-85% of our Mothers breastfeed so we are busy.
My question concerns Vifipaque 350, a dye used for an IVP. The
patient is breastfeeding a premie, who is now about 4 weeks old. The
Mom says the X-ray Dept. told her not to breastfeed for 24 hr. past
the dose. I can not find any info, however the tech did tell me that
this is the same dye they would use for a baby having a IVP. Which
makes me think it should be O.K.Iwant some documentation though, as
this Mom has already lost this infants twin and I do not want to cause
her any more grief. What do you say Dr. Hale or Dr.Jack?
Thank you. Barbara Schemmer Springfield,Ill
