Here in San Antonio, this is what's done. The AF Family Advocacy Nurse makes
a home visit after discharge from the hospital to check on the new family. At
that time, she issues a voucher for the mother to use toward the rental or
purchase. Here, they won't give a full 6 months voucher, since they want to
continue to follow the family. So each voucher is issued only after seeing
the family, or at least the mother/baby dyad. Most FA Nurses will issue
voucher for 2 or 3 months at a time.
