If you don't have Susun Weed's "Wise Woman Herbal for the Childbearing
Year", I'd definitely recommend it. It was published in 1986 and I
wouldn't use it as a sole source for herbal information. It is easy to
read and find info in quickly.
Weed lists a combination of Fennel/Barley Water as a galactogogue to
increase breastmilk supply, ease afterpains, and settle digestion for
mother and baby.
Raspberry Tea, on the other hand, can be used from the second trimester
through postpartum as a uterine tonic and nourishment via vitamins and
minerals in the leaves. Benefits include preventing miscarriage and
hemorrhage, easing morning sickness, reducing pain during labor and after
birth, providing a safe and speedy parturition, helping deliver a stuck
placenta and increasing breastmilk production.
I'm sure Tami will also provide you with some help on both herbals. In the
past year, I've been asking anyone I care for about medications AND herbal
remedies and am surprised at the large numbers of people (at least 50%)
who will tell you about what herbals and homeopathic remedies they are
using just because you ask.
