I wouldn't recommend any plain old cows' milk for any human child until at
least two years of age. Human young do not *need* the milk of other
species, and cows' milk not only can cause bleeding in the gut (whether it
leads to anemia or not, do you really want your child bleeding from the
gut??), it can also be contaminated with salmonella, have traces of pus and
antibiotics from cows with mastitis, have IGF-I, etc. Can you tell I've
been reading "Milk, the Deadly Poison." Put me off my Blue Bell Ice Cream,
and that takes a lot. As long as the baby is breastfeeding, he can drink
water or juice when mom isn't around. Once he's been weaned, he still
doesn't need cows. milk!
