Laura, do you why it has changed?  Was there a change in policy or
directions from administration?  or did nurses "sort of" do it on their own
by default and lack of cooperation?   If so, go back to administration and
ask for documentation of reasons why it was changed.  L & D nurses in this
day and age need to be cross trained and able to care for newborn patients
as well as moms.  It is not cost effective to maintain  separate staffs in
nursery, L & D and PP.  Every maternal/child nurse should be able to do all
