I agree and disagree with Linda's statement re: slides. I agree that the
candidate needs to have seen LOTS of mothers, babies, breasts etc. But
sometimes some things are never seen by an experienced counselor. I
remember years ago trying to get help for recurrent breast infections. I
got a lot of sympathy and suggestions, but it wasn't until later when the
leader had one herself that I think she understood what I had been trying
to get help for. When I asked her how she was doing she said she felt
like she was doing research! So there are some anomalies that a novice
won't have seen and looking at pictures and slides will help develop a
