I don't think receiving blood products should be a concern. We recently
had a mom with a postpartum hemorrhage and DIC (disseminated
intravascular coagulation) whose entire blood volume was replaced. I
know she received several kinds of blood products. No one said anything
about a concern with her breastfeeding her baby. Babies are taken off
the breast because mom is on mag sulfate (much less that they used to
be, however) or Flagyl, so I'm sure they wouldn't have hesitated to stop
breastfeeding if they thought there could be a problem.
