We had a 1 1/2 year old hospitalized here with vomiting and diarrhea - mom
had held off on lithium as long as she could, but had to take it. The ped
of course assumed the problems was the lithium (mom only nursing once a day
at bedtime). The child's levels were found to be .2. Could that level
cause those symptoms or was it just a virus?

The problem was, that lithium levels in the child were very hard to monitor
due to the fact they had to be sent to the US - took a week.

Mom has continued bf, but feels very guilty... Just what a person with
manic/depression needs!
