I would hardly think  that Lactofree is an appropriate 2nd choice for a
newborn.  Babies spit up formula, period.  Some more than others depending
on the brand given.  If you've ever worked in the nursery I'm sure you have
some "favorites" that you absolutely hate to  give a newborn because you
