The free childbirth prep magazine by Lamaze International "Lamaze Parents",
has a food pyramid and article on nutrition in pregnancy. Guidelines would be
similar for lactation - I like to keep it simple: eat nutritious foods when
you are hungry, drink healthy fluids when you are thirsty.
Lamaze International has a web site: www.lamaze-childbirth.com. For a more in-
depth look at nutrition and exercise during lactation, check out the
independent study continuing ed article you can click on:
•Exercise and Dietary Programming to Promote Maternal Health Fitness and
Weight Management During Lactation, by Roger L. Hammer, Ph.D., and
Carolee Hinterman, PT
It would be interesting to get a critique from our lactnet RDs and exercise
experts about this article.
