At this age, yes, probably is normal distractability during the day.

Babies also are quick to notice that pulling off (which provides nipple stim
to elicit MER) causes an additional let down = facilitates a faster easier
flow. I often notice younger babies using this MER Pulling -MERP- technique.

Moms with nipple soreness, or annoyance, resulting from MERP, can use self MER
techniques - SMERT - at first signs of MERP ;-)
