Greetings.... My usually busy Friday morning (full moon, no less!) was
dampened by an outpouring of bagels and cream cheese from our "friendly"
M___ J______ representative who came to celebrate her company's winning
theWIC contract. The nurses station was crowded with hungry staff
encouraging me to join them in their feasting. I explained that
receiving gifts from the formula reps is something I won't do, and was
provided an excellent (I hope) opportunity to speak to a captive
audience of Mother-Baby nurses about the WHO Code of Marketing of
Breastmilk Substitutes. Some of the long-time staff looked at me like I
had 3 heads, but a few of the orientees listened with true interest as
they munched their bagels. Maybe this was my chance to begin WBF early?
Last year our R--- rep came up a couple of days before WBF with food and
gifts for all the staff. ( I suggested we all watch for his timing this
year.) I think I'm mad enough to make the time to go to administration
and see what I can do to put the stops to all this schmoozing with
staff. Thanks for listening. >rant over<
