This in response to Dr. Jack's post about hysterectomy having no effect on
lactation unless the ovaries were removed. Could someone explain what impact
ovaries have on lactation? I thought people needed oxytocin and prolactin and
a pituitary if lactation is already ongoing (as in the case cited). I could
see a need for ovaries at the beginning of lactation, once delivery of the
placenta and the drop in progesterone reduce the prolactin-inhibitory
