I'm searching for any information re: weaning and a return to normal blood
pressure. I was contacted by a woman of a 2 1/2 year old who has weaned her
child in the past 2 weeks. Her son was delivered 4 weeks early d/t severe
pregnancy induced hypertension. Following delivery and during the next 2
1/2 years in which she breastfed her son, she continued with elevated BP,
occasionally being symptomatic w/visual disturbances, headaches, tingling in
her extremities. She was not advised to take any anti-hypertensives, but to
modify her diet and exercise regime first. In the past 2 weeks since
complete cessation of breastfeeding, her blood pressure has returned to
"normal." Is this just coincidence? Thanks for any information anyone has:
