You know, I had a mom the other day who's baby had a bili level of 17 at day
6 of life, so of sourse the doc suggested holding the breastmilk, for fear
of this mom being the "1% of moms with 'true' breastmilk jaundice". This mom
is a very nervous person in general, so I mentioned that holding the BM
feedings wasn't always the recommended course of action, but that if she was
comfortable with it, to give it a try. Now here's my question: after
searching the archives and finding wonderful references for NOT holding
feedings-- do you think it would be... hmmm... *sneaky* if I printed them
out (with permission, of course) and mailed them to her ped? (maybe
anonymously-- I'm not sure how the reception would be. Our sleepy town is
less than enthusiastic about the "latest and greatest") I know it sounds
bad, but the politics here have to be seen to believed.
What do you think?
