"at the talk last night i heard a story about a hospital-based bf support
group. the mother who went to the group at six weeks postpartum reported that
of six mothers, four were supplementing with ABM. this didn't sound like a
ringing endorsement of the prenatal bf education class!"

Well, it kind of depends where you start from. Were these mothers actually
attending prenatal classes? We are about to start support groups at our
hospital and only 7% of our patients attend prenatal classes; lots don't
even have prenatal care! If I can get 6 breastfeeding Moms to attend the
support group, I wouldn't be surprised if 4 are supplementing. Of course,
once they've attended the support group they'll never do it again ;) ;)
