Cindy, one person who was marketing breastfeeding screen savers was
planning to use my copyrighted Fact Pack statements - without my
permission! After a pointed conversation about copyright law, she agreed to
cease her marketing plans for these products.
Everyone - be very, very careful when you download images or statements from
the Internet. Many (probably MOST) images, drawings, photos, etc are
copyrighted by the artist/cartoonist/author. Make absolutely sure you have
written permission from the originator of the image before you use the item
for anything more than completely personal, private use. And even then, it's
stretching the intent of the law to just "use" an image.
Case in point: my private business has received several inquires to use our
button and slogan images for various purposes. We spend hours, even weeks on
a single button design - this is part of our livelihood.
