I have a study from the New England Journal of Medicine on this issue.
And whoever wrote the article in your magazine there, blew it. It says
nothing at all what you wrote. It says that breastfeeding women lose
more calcium while they breastfeed but then make it up after weaning, in
many cases to higher bone densities than where they started. The
article also shows that in women who are taking reasonable amounts of
calcium in their diets (I think they said 500 or so mg/day), giving
calcium supplements made no difference to the bone density after
weaning.
The article is *good* for breastfeeding.

P.S. I am not sure why you feel you disagree with me when I say the
mother does not have to do anything.
