Subject: Dry areolas, itching nipples
Date: Tue, 2 Jun 1998 19:52:12

Hi,

A peer of mine is 14 weeks pregnant with the complaint that her
areolas are dry and scaley. She says her skin is normally dry, even
when not pregnant. Has history of hypothyroidism, for which she is
being treated for. She has tried lanolin to her areolas (some
inadvertantly ended up on the nipples) and states that now her
nipples are itching and she is very uncomfortable. Also states she
now has what appears to be tiny blisters on the nipples. I told her
to stop the lanolin. Is there anything she can use or do to
alleviate the dryness of her areolas and now the itching of her
nipples?

Thanks, A.R. RN
